QHills was founded in 2019 with an unusual purpose: building technological capability for women in Satara, through a mentorship initiative at Yashvant Rao Chavan Institute of Science. The founding team of three started with Quantum Computing — still conceptual at the time, and the Q the company is named after — then went straight into AI and Machine Learning.

Early on, the team worked hands-on with a Pune-based company to earn real AI/ML experience. Their first major independent project was a structured disaster dataset for three flood-prone districts of Maharashtra — assembled from news archives, public datasets and on-field surveys, with a data processing and intelligence layer built on top. All of it in the pre-ChatGPT, pre-LLM era.

That work was demonstrated to GISE Hub, IIT Bombay. QHills continues to collaborate with IIT Bombay today under various grant programmes.

A parallel web team grew out of a meat delivery platform — the first taste of full-stack delivery across multiple districts. The first commercial client followed: an EdTech platform for cybersecurity mentorship, through which the team learned professional development cycles, scalability, deadlines and performance management.

Built on complex, rejected problems

We never had the luxury of structured requirements or simple briefs. Our early projects were the ones other organisations had turned down — too complex for the cost and timeline involved. That constant exposure to hard, unstructured problems is why we can implement requirements others cannot.
